Wrongful Termination

Being fired is difficult, but losing your job for an unlawful reason is even more unjust. In California, an at-will employment state, employers generally can terminate employees without cause. However, it is illegal for an employer to fire you based on discrimination, retaliation, or other protected reasons. You may have a wrongful termination claim if you were terminated because of your gender (including pregnancy), disability, age, race or national origin, religion or religious practices, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military or veteran status, or use of family or medical leave.

Additionally, termination in retaliation for asserting your rights is unlawful. This includes retaliation for complaining about illegal or unsafe workplace practices, discrimination, unpaid wages or overtime, violations of meal or rest break laws, or, for healthcare workers, reporting patient safety concerns.

If you believe your termination was wrongful or if you are being forced out due to any of these unlawful reasons, Lucien Law Group is here to help you understand your rights and pursue justice.
